According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, roughly 20% of small businesses will close within the first year and roughly 50% won’t make it to their five-year anniversary. This fact was highlighted by QuickBooks in 2022 at their annual ProAdvisor Connect conference). That number increases to a 69% success rate for businesses that are in Intuit’s ecosystem.
Intuit surveyed small businesses and found that 9 out of 10 small businesses are successful when they partner with an accountant. They even cited feeling more confident in their businesses and sleeping better at night.

Our initial consultation is our chance to get to know each other and help us decide if we are a fit for one another. This discovery process helps me to understand what solutions you are looking for and what services I can provide to meet your needs.
It is also your opportunity to decide if you would like to work with me. Your relationships with your accountant, attorney, and doctor are very personal and include sharing confidential information. You should feel comfortable with whom you are working.

Yes. I maintain an active license in Colorado.
Bookkeeping is the foundation of most accounting services offerings and involves posting day-to-day transactions and preparing bank reconciliations. While bookkeepers are not required to have a certification, degree, or license many do a great job covering the basics. Anyone, even you, can be a bookkeeper.
I have a bachelor’s degree in accounting and maintain an active CPA license which means I have the knowledge to take your accounting beyond the basics. I actively search for continuing education and industry conferences to discover new technology, stay up to date on best practices, and follow industry trends to better support my clients.
Additionally, I’ve been working in public accounting since the early 2000s which means I have seen a wide variety of complicated problems that required out-of-the-box thinking to solve. My experience includes performing countless hours of cleanup of accounting records after clients hired low-cost providers. While deciding to spend more on talent upfront can be difficult, the savings of future costly cleanups and the headache of not knowing how your company is performing should be factored into your decision.
That’s ok. While I recommend starting on the right foot with an experienced accountant to avoid frustrations down the road, some small business owners prefer to do their own accounting or seek out low-cost providers. This works best when your business is your hobby or small side hustle.
